The new Congress is threatening to withdraw all funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). While PBS and NPR receive donations from individuals, foundations and corporations, funding from CPB is a key part of their budgets.
Eliminating funding for public broadcasting is not going to affect the deficit. Not even a tiny bit. In fact it will cost us jobs. PBS programs like Frontline, American Experience, Nova, and Sesame Street deliver some of the highest quality, most in-depth discussion of current affairs, history, culture, science, the economy, and the environment available anywhere. They educate and entertain young and old. They are a national treasure, not to be squandered.
Tell your Congressmember to save public broadcasting.
